Volunteers

In 2017, the Kona Community Hospital Auxiliary provided 3,605 hours of volunteer services to our hospital.

KCH_Auxiliary-LogoThe Kona Community Hospital Auxiliary provides the volunteer support base for service, fundraising and “friendraising” for Kona Community Hospital (KCH).

Membership in the Auxiliary is open to men and women, eighteen years of age or older, of all backgrounds and abilities, who are interested in providing services to patients that the staff would not normally provide.

Volunteers are involved in patient interactions such as healing touch or assisting with emergency department patients; work in the Gift Shop or help with the weekly Bake Sale at the cafeteria. Auxiliary volunteers participate annually in the Relay for Life and holiday parade and other activities representing the Auxiliary and Kona Community Hospital.

The Auxiliary provides a number of nursing scholarships and continuing education funds for KCH nurses. The Auxiliary also works to fund special requests from various hospital departments for un-budgeted necessities.

The Auxiliary provides a communication link between the community and the Kona Community Hospital. Community suggestions through the Auxiliary are welcome and warmly received by the administration and staff.
